We’ve been delighted to see such brilliant engagement from Spa Academy Askern in Doncaster, where Chef’s in Schools trainers, supported by a donation from The David Brown Foundation, recently delivered a hands-on food education session as part of the #TrySomethingNewTuesdays initiative.

The session gave students the chance to get involved, try new skills and build confidence in the kitchen. It was inspiring to see young people learning through practical experience, exploring food, developing essential skills and discovering the joy of cooking.

Following the success of this session, the school has now secured food education grant from us to invest in new cooking equipment. This investment will enable the school chef to deliver safe, inclusive cookery classes, ensuring even more pupils can benefit from high-quality food education.

With improved facilities, students will build confidence, independence and lifelong skills, learning how to prepare seasonal, nutritious and affordable meals. These skills are increasingly important as families face rising food and energy costs.

By empowering children to make healthy, sustainable food choices, this funding will support both pupils and their families, now and in the future.

We are incredibly proud to see our donation, delivered in partnership with Chefs in Schools, making such a meaningful difference. We’re excited to build on this success and look forward to rolling this work out into more schools across the North.

Thank you for helping us turn food education into lasting impact.
