I was married to David for almost 30 years and together we have our daughter, Alicia. The David Brown Foundation is incredibly close to my heart, and I am passionate about continuing the work in education that David dedicated so much of his life to.

I have been involved in fundraising for a number of charities over the years, including the Kidney Patients Society, Harrogate and St James’s Hospital, and The Finlay Cooper Trust.

Through the Foundation, I am incredibly proud that we are able to continue David’s legacy by supporting children, young people and those working within education. I want to ensure that the values David lived by – compassion, encouragement and a genuine belief in helping others fulfil their potential – remain at the heart of everything we do.

Dad dedicated his career to education and genuinely cared about giving young people the best possible chance to succeed. Continuing those values through the Foundation means everything to me. I want us to build something that not only keeps his memory alive, but creates a lasting legacy that reflects who he was and the difference he made to others.

My professional background is in digital marketing, social media and business, and I use those skills within the Foundation to help shape our brand, communications and digital presence. I am particularly passionate about telling the stories behind the projects we fund, growing awareness of our work and finding new ways to engage supporters, businesses and partners.

I am a systems change professional with a particular passion for sustainability and creating positive, long-term impact. I currently work at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, where I use my previous experience within the finance sector as part of the Finance Initiative, helping to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy.

My passion for education comes from my own experiences and the opportunities I have been fortunate enough to receive. Having had the opportunity to study at a high level, I believe strongly that every young person, regardless of their background or circumstances, should have access to a quality education and the opportunities that can come from it.

 I hope to bring my professional experience in systems thinking, finance and driving meaningful change to help the Foundation develop its impact.

​​I ran a successful North Yorkshire-based business with my husband for 25 years, gaining extensive experience in growing and managing a business. Having now taken a step back, I’m excited to explore new challenges and use my experience to support the work of the David Brown Foundation.

As a Trustee, I hope to bring innovative thinking, practical business experience and a fresh perspective to the Board, while helping to drive the Foundation’s operational and fundraising efforts. I’m proud to be part of the charity and look forward to contributing to its continued growth and the positive impact it has on young people.

I have worked in PR for over 10 years, building experience in communications, events and creating partnerships that bring people together. I also organise Harrogate’s annual Symphonic Ibiza concert, an event I’m incredibly proud to be involved with and from which a portion of the proceeds is donated to the David Brown Foundation.

Although I only had the opportunity to know Dave briefly, it is a privilege to now play a part in continuing his legacy.

 

As a Trustee, I hope to use my experience in PR, events and relationship-building to support the Foundation’s fundraising, develop new partnerships and create events that raise both funds and awareness for its work. I’m excited to help grow the Foundation and ultimately create more opportunities for young people across the North of England.
